Tēnā koutou,

Welcome, you've just stumbled upon the lair of an NZ academic adventurer who's more comfortable chasing after extreme ideologies than extreme sports. I'm a PhD. Candidate who's been elbow-deep in the study of extremism, violent extremism and terrorism in Aotearoa NZ ever since I got my hands-on degree in Psychology and a Masters in Defence and Security (Merit) ………….. (think Sherlock Holmes, but less pipe smoking)

My trusty team of PhD supervisors let me loose like a bloodhound on a scent when it comes to research because knowledge doesn’t grow on trees, and there’s no such thing as a rabbit hole too deep! I have a background in working in Security & Intelligence fields, which adds a real-world dimension to my studies. When not buried in books or spelunking in the tunnels of academia, I moonlight as a freelance consultant in security, intelligence and crime-related contexts. I'd tell you more, but then, you know... I'd have to... well, let’s move on.

This website? Picture it as a hobbit hole crammed full of scholarly wisdom (hopefully, with less dragon) that does not have a platform of its own... It's a cozy corner of the internet where researchers can find some written wisdom of other scholarly travellers, perhaps the occasional meme.

As this place grows faster than a hobbit’s appetite, I appreciate your patience and suggestions to stuff it with more content than Bilbo’s pantry. Whether you’re a fellow academic wizard, a hobbit with an unquenchable curiosity, or an elf who appreciates the art of academic deep-diving, you’ve found your Middle-Earth. Here, we’ll unravel the One Ring of extremism, violent extremism, and terrorism in the post-9/11 Aotearoa NZ - Covid Pandemic Era.

So, hop on this academic fellowship as we invite other Gandalfs of academia to share their work /ideas on this platform.

"Whaowhia te kete mātauranga - Fill the basket of knowledge."

Or as Gandalf might say, "You shall not... lack wisdom!"

Ngā manaakitanga
